Diving to the Tugboat Nestor Wreck
Dive into Greece’s First Underwater Park – Chania, Crete
DESCRIPTION
Dive into Greece’s first official underwater park at Apokoronas, Crete—a pioneering marine sanctuary designed for divers of all levels. Spanning over 60,000 square meters in the crystal-clear waters of Omprogialos, this protected area features 44 artificial reefs and the sunken tugboat R/K NESTOR, which you can explore using sea scooters!
With three marked dive routes ranging from 8.5 to 25 meters in depth, the park offers an unforgettable experience that combines underwater exploration with marine conservation.
A main highlight is the Tugboat R/K NESTOR, purposefully sunk on April 2nd, 2025, at 10 a.m to form a new artificial reef and attraction for divers. Resting at an accessible depth from the shore at around 20 meters, this wreck is surrounded by marine life and offers a unique site for both recreational and eco-conscious diving.
